Description

From Wikipedia: "Messier 109 (also known as NGC 3992) is a barred spiral galaxy exhibiting a weak inner ring structure around the central bar approximately 83.5 ± 24 million light-years[3] away in the constellation Ursa Major. M109 can be seen southeast of the star Phecda (γ UMa)."

++++++++

I imaged M106 a few days ago, and to my delight I noted M109 lodged in the top corner of the very wide field.

f2.8, unguided, manual framing, AC-free rig

As the weather became less brutal, I gathered an old light jacket from the basement and in digging around the pockets, found 10 dollars in cash.

Similar events, not unwelcome. =8^)

My (happy) problem became cropping to highlight M109 and trying to not to enhance the choppiness that comes with an extreme crop. So, here is the final result.

Cheers,

Ian
